Civil Foreman, Industrial Construction

Responsible to support various civil and earthwork projects undertaken by the company involving but not limited to managing various construction sites, supervising multiple sub-contractors, and promoting the company's HSE policies during the development of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage on-site construction activities on a daily basis, which may involve in various projects: reviewing civil works undertaken by civil contractors, and supervision of sub-trades.
  • Support the Civil Superintendent, Industrial Construction for tracking and evaluating Sub-contractor schedules and budgets, to ensure that projected key milestones and indicators are being achieved and that the project is executed effectively.
  • Monitor work performance of subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedule are followed, and project is executed effectively and within budget.
  • Review of grading, civil and preload drawings with the ability to do basic layouts
  • Work with other Beedie personnel, engineers and contractors to do valve engineering, planning, scheduling and rough estimating budgeting
  • Provide support to the Civil Superintendent, Industrial Construction to report to all departments regarding the project's progress advance, and/or anticipated delays.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all materials are in accordance to standards and specifications.
  • Support the Civil Superintendent, Industrial Construction to review and report the execution and performance of the construction activities, and that they are in accordance to planned drawings and initial design.
  • Responsible for the interaction of construction team assigned.
  • Promote and monitor compliance with the project safety program and environmental protection requirements in co-operation with the Health & Safety and Environmental Coordinators
  • Provide technical direction to work crews as needed; ensure work is performed to applicable standards
  • Understand the company goals, work across various departments
  • Monitor and leadership of  younger crew members and mentoring and coaching on practical civil earthwork skills 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience with mid-size construction projects with focus on earth and civil works
  • Experience with road work is an asset
  • First-hand knowledge of earth moving equipment (excavator, dozer, and trucks) with the ability to match the right equipment with the job, understand efficiencies and productivity rates. 
  • Working experience & knowledge of construction planning, methodology, productivity analysis, QA processes and HSE procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal written & presentation, in English language are required.
  • Excellent team management skills, ability to mentor, delegate, direct work of others.
