Accounts Payable Supervisor

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounts payable function for Beedie Development Group, ensuring payments are processed accurately and efficiently while maintaining a focus on customer service and vendor relationships. Promote an environment of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the accounts payable team and encourage a culture of teamwork:

  • Support and supervise AP team in all aspects of their duties
  • Oversee all onboarding and ongoing training of AP staff
  • Create value by suggesting improvements to the procure to pay process and maximizing monetary savings, including vendor discounts

Responsible for all aspects of the procure-to-pay cycle:

  • Maintain accurate vendor master file. Review and enter new vendor and change requests
  • Oversee invoice processing; distribute invoices in a manner that ensures efficient utilization of AP staff
  • Respond to vendor and internal manager queries with focus on customer service
  • Responsible for all vendor payments, including EFT, cheque and online. Manage early and off cycle payment requests
  • Maintain the integrity of the accounts payable sub ledger
  • Monitor invoice aging and turnover. Prepare various reports and reconciliations, interpret results and discuss with management
  • Oversee Purchase Cards: issue cards, oversee users, reconcile and oversee reports

Other duties:

  • Prepare T5018 tax information slips as required
  • Liase with IT to ensure routing rules, templates and user accounts in Timberscan (electronic invoice approval software) are appropriate
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years in accounts payable and accounting
  • Experience in a supervisory role supporting multiple staff and delegating work
  • An organized self-starter with a strong work ethic who is able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail balanced with an awareness of the bigger picture
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks, likely with competing priorities
  • Strong problem solving, communication (verbal and written), and analytical skills
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced Excel)
  • Exposure to real estate or construction an asset
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Education: Completion of university level education
